Initiated by her observation of shadows reflected in the earth The artist took months perfecting a technique to convey objects in two dimensions onto canvas. More like the subject has been transformed into its own reproduction with the canvas taking on the artist's interpretation. It is most effective when dealing with living objects or items that are perishable like fruits and people. Alexa Meade's paintings are ephemeral, but the photo remains. Painting and photography are closely together to produce an unflattering two-dimensional space that is trompe-l'oeil. Certain places the third dimensions can be observed, such as around the eye or on the hair. Meade can sometimes incorporate her painted model into the three-dimensional surroundings around it that allows the model to be a part of their own world. This eliminates the distinctions between photography, painting, and installation.
