One of her personal highlights was getting selected to be part of Snoop on the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, and writing songs, despite the turbulence of the past few years. As a producer magnet, Niykee has a constant eye on the numerous beats being sent to her. The majority beats spark fresh songs. "I'll be able tell within 5 seconds whether it's a great beat. Once I've an idea in my head I'll begin writing straight away." I get the words when I'm on my deck, playing guitar. It usually takes less than 30 minutes. Niykee says that as she develops as a lyricist her painful memories from her childhood serve as an inspiration. My experience of pain as a child in my youth and that of losing my sibling is present in my lyrics, even though they're not exactly literal. My songs are shaped by it and I feel the deeper meaning underneath every single thing. That's one of the things that is most important to me.
